Privacy Policy

Effective July 11, 2026 · Applies to ParsleyPDF 3.0 and later · Supersedes all prior versions of this policy

The short version: ParsleyPDF collects nothing. All AI runs on your device. We have no servers, so your documents cannot reach us.

At a glance

What we collect Nothing. No personal data, no document data, no usage data.
Where AI runs On your device. Apple Intelligence — Apple's on-device foundation model.
Accounts None. There is nothing to sign up for and no way to identify you.
Analytics & tracking None. No analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no crash-reporting services.
Purchases Handled by Apple. We never see your name, email, or payment details.

This policy describes ParsleyPDF version 3.0 and later, published by Zeynep Nur Asker ("we"). Earlier versions of the app used cloud services and were covered by an earlier policy. Version 3.0 removed the app's entire server backend, and this document replaces everything that came before it.

1. On-device processing

Every AI feature in ParsleyPDF — chat, summaries, quizzes, multi-document chat, and document search — runs on your iPhone or iPad using Apple Intelligence (Apple's FoundationModels framework). The model is part of the operating system and executes locally on your device's hardware.

Your document text is never transmitted — not to us (we operate no servers), not to any AI provider, and not to any other third party. Processing happens in the app, on your device, and the results stay there. Because the model is local, AI features also work with no internet connection at all.

2. Local storage & deletion

Your PDFs, scanned documents, chat history, summaries, quiz results, and the search index the app builds from your documents are stored only in the app's private container on your device, protected by iOS's built-in file encryption.

  • Deleting a document in the app removes it and its associated AI content from your device.
  • Deleting the app deletes everything. There is no copy on any server, so nothing survives — and there is nothing to request or have erased from us, because we never had it.

If you back up your device with iCloud or a computer, your ParsleyPDF data is included in that backup like any other app's data. Backups are controlled by you and governed by Apple's privacy policy.

3. Purchases

The Pro upgrade (a one-time lifetime purchase or a monthly subscription) is processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit and your Apple ID. Apple handles payment, billing, renewal, and refunds.

We receive no personal data from your purchase — no name, no email address, no payment information. The app only receives an anonymous confirmation from the App Store that Pro is unlocked on your device. Apple's handling of your payment data is described in Apple's privacy policy.

4. Camera & photos

If you use document scanning, the app asks for camera access. Captured pages are converted to text with on-device OCR (Apple's Vision framework) and saved as a PDF in your local library. Images and recognized text never leave your device, and the camera is used only while you are actively scanning. You can revoke access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera.

5. No accounts, no analytics, no third-party SDKs

  • No accounts. ParsleyPDF has no sign-up, no login, and no user identifiers of any kind.
  • No analytics or tracking. The app contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking code, and requests no advertising identifiers.
  • No third-party SDKs. The app is built only on Apple's system frameworks (PDFKit, Vision, FoundationModels, StoreKit). There is no third-party code that could collect data.

A consequence worth stating plainly: we cannot see how you use the app, what you read, or whether you use it at all. If you choose to share optional diagnostics with Apple through iOS system settings, that data goes to Apple under Apple's policies, not to us.

6. Children

ParsleyPDF does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app contains no ads, no social features, and no data collection, so there is no mechanism by which a child's data could be gathered.

7. Changes to this policy

If we ever change how the app handles data — for example, if a future feature required a network service — we will update this policy first, change the effective date at the top, and describe the change in plain language in the app's release notes before it ships. Continued use of the app after a change takes effect means the updated policy applies to you.
