Terms of Use & End User License Agreement

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using ParsleyPDF, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and End User License Agreement (collectively, "Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the application.

You must be at least 13 years old to use ParsleyPDF. By using the app, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agrees to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

ParsleyPDF is a mobile application for iOS that uses artificial intelligence to help you understand PDF documents. Features include:

• AI Chat — ask questions about your documents and receive AI-generated answers with page citations
• Document Summaries — automatically generated overviews of your PDF content
• Quizzes — AI-generated multiple-choice questions to test your understanding
• Multi-Document Chat (Pro) — chat across multiple documents simultaneously
• Ephemeral Mode — process documents without saving them to your library

All documents are stored locally on your device. AI features process document text ephemerally through our servers — no data is retained.

3. Account & Authentication

ParsleyPDF uses anonymous authentication via Firebase Authentication. When you first open the app, an anonymous session is created automatically. You do not need to create an account, provide an email address, or set a password.

Your anonymous session: - Is tied to your device installation - Expires after 90 days of inactivity - Cannot be recovered if lost (e.g., after a device reset)

4. Subscription Terms

4.1 Free Tier

ParsleyPDF offers a free tier with the following limits:

Free tier limits are tracked locally and on our servers. Lifetime limits persist across app reinstalls.

4.2 ParsleyPDF Pro

ParsleyPDF Pro removes all free tier limits and unlocks additional features:

• Unlimited PDF imports
• Up to 500 pages per PDF
• Unlimited questions per document
• No character limit on messages
• Unlimited quiz generations
• Multi-document chat (up to 5 documents)
• Daily AI request allowance (see Section 4.3 for tier-specific caps and Section 4.6 for fair-use details)

4.3 Pricing, Plans & Billing

ParsleyPDF Pro is offered in two auto-renewing plans. Both plans share the same feature set; they differ only in billing period, daily AI request cap, and whether a free trial is included.

Daily AI request caps apply across chat, document summaries, and quizzes combined, and reset at midnight UTC.

Monthly Plan Free Trial

New subscribers to the Monthly plan receive a 7-day free trial through Apple's Introductory Offer program:

• The trial begins immediately when you start a Monthly Pro subscription
• You will not be charged during the trial period
• You may cancel any time during the trial to avoid any charge
• If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription converts automatically to the Monthly rate ($6.99/month)
• The free trial is available once per Apple ID
• You will receive an in-app notification approximately 24 hours before the trial converts to a paid subscription

The Weekly plan does not include a free trial. Billing begins immediately upon subscription confirmation.

Billing

Subscriptions are billed through Apple's In-App Purchase system. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at the end of the free trial (if applicable) or at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription automatically renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

Switching Between Plans

You may switch between the Monthly and Weekly plans at any time through your Apple ID subscription settings. Per Apple's rules: - Upgrading from Weekly to Monthly takes effect immediately with prorated billing. - Downgrading from Monthly to Weekly takes effect at the end of the current Monthly billing period.

ParsleyPDF Team is enrolled in Apple's Small Business Program. Apple's commission on your subscription is 15% after the first year of continuous subscription.

4.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time:

1. Open Settings on your iPhone
2. Tap your Apple ID > Subscriptions
3. Select ParsleyPDF Pro and tap Cancel Subscription

Or use the "Manage Subscription" link in ParsleyPDF's Settings tab.

After cancellation, you retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period. You will then revert to the free tier. Your existing documents and data remain on your device.

4.5 Refunds

All refund requests are handled by Apple. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. ParsleyPDF Team cannot process refunds directly.

4.6 Fair Use & Rate Limiting

ParsleyPDF Pro provides generous AI usage limits intended for normal individual study and research use. To protect service quality for all users, preserve sustainable unit economics, and prevent abuse, we apply the following fair-use measures:

• Daily limits: AI requests are capped at 100 per day for Pro Monthly subscribers, 50 per day for Pro Weekly subscribers, and 20 per day for free users. Limits reset at midnight UTC. When you reach your daily limit, additional AI requests will be unavailable until the reset.
• Brief automatic throttling: If your hourly usage pattern suggests automated or unusually high-volume use (approximately 30+ AI requests in a single hour), brief automatic delays (3–8 seconds) may be introduced before subsequent AI requests. These delays are transparent and do not affect the quality of the AI response. The vast majority of users will never encounter them.
• Reserved rights: We reserve the right to adjust fair-use thresholds over time as needed to ensure service sustainability. Existing Pro subscribers will be notified of any material changes via in-app notice.

ParsleyPDF is intended for personal study and research. Using the service to power external tools, generate content at industrial scale, run automated scripts or bots, or intentionally circumvent these limits is a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy (Section 7) and may result in suspension of access.

Rate limiting is not punishment — it is how we keep Pro affordable. Your subscription covers a generous daily allowance. These measures exist to protect everyone's access.

5. End User License Agreement (EULA)

5.1 License Grant

Subject to these Terms, ParsleyPDF Team grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download, install, and use ParsleyPDF on Apple devices that you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use.

5.2 Restrictions

You agree not to:

• Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of ParsleyPDF
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
• Attempt to extract the source code of ParsleyPDF
• Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices
• Use the app to develop a competing product or service
• Circumvent or attempt to circumvent subscription limits, anti-abuse measures, or rate limiting
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the app
• Resell, sublicense, or share your Pro subscription

5.3 Termination

This license is effective until terminated. It terminates automatically if you fail to comply with these Terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of ParsleyPDF and delete it from your devices.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access for users who violate these Terms or engage in abusive behavior, including but not limited to circumventing free tier limits or rate limiting.

6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Important: ParsleyPDF's AI features are provided for educational reference only.

• AI-generated responses (chat answers, summaries, quizzes) are produced by Google's Gemini AI and may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions.
• AI output should not be relied upon as professional, legal, medical, financial, or academic advice.
• You are solely responsible for verifying AI-generated content against your original source documents.
• AI responses do not constitute a substitute for reading and understanding your documents yourself.
• Quiz answers generated by AI may occasionally be incorrect. Always verify against the source material.
• ParsleyPDF Team makes no warranties regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of AI-generated content.

You use AI features at your own risk. ParsleyPDF is a study aid, not an authoritative source.

7. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree to use ParsleyPDF only for lawful purposes. You must not:

• Upload documents you do not have the right to access or analyze
• Use the app to process documents containing illegal content
• Attempt to manipulate AI responses to generate harmful, abusive, or misleading content
• Use ParsleyPDF to facilitate academic dishonesty, plagiarism, or fraud
• Exploit the app to extract or reproduce copyrighted material in bulk
• Overwhelm or disrupt the service through excessive automated requests
• Share or distribute AI-generated content in a way that misrepresents it as human-authored or authoritative

8. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Key points: - Documents are stored only on your device - AI processing is ephemeral — no data is retained on our servers - We use anonymous authentication — no personal account required - We do not sell your data or use it for advertising

AI Data Consent: Before using any AI-powered feature (chat, summaries, quizzes, multi-document chat), you will be asked to consent to having your document text and messages processed by Google's Gemini AI. You may decline or revoke consent at any time in Settings. If you decline, all non-AI features (PDF viewing, document management) remain fully functional. Your data may be temporarily cached on Google's servers to improve performance, then automatically deleted. It is never used for AI model training. Google provides the same or equal level of data protection as ParsleyPDF.

9. User Responsibilities

9.1 Document Ownership

You are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to import and analyze any documents you use with ParsleyPDF. We do not verify document ownership or copyright status.

9.2 Academic Integrity

If you are a student, you are responsible for complying with your institution's academic integrity policies. ParsleyPDF is designed as a study aid. Using AI-generated content in ways that violate academic honesty policies is your responsibility.

9.3 Data Backup

Because documents are stored only on your device, you are responsible for maintaining backups. ParsleyPDF does not provide cloud backup or sync functionality.

10. Intellectual Property

ParsleyPDF, including its design, code, features, and branding, is the intellectual property of ParsleyPDF Team. All rights not expressly granted in these Terms are reserved.

Your documents remain your property. ParsleyPDF does not claim any ownership or rights over documents you import or AI responses generated from them.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

PARSLEYPDF IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT: - The app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure - AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, or reliable - The app will meet your specific requirements - Defects will be corrected in a timely manner

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, PARSLEYPDF TEAM SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Loss of data or documents
• Loss of profits or revenue
• Academic consequences resulting from reliance on AI-generated content
• Damages arising from service interruptions or errors
• Damages arising from unauthorized access to your device

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF PARSLEYPDF SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, without regard to conflict of law principles.

For users in the European Union, nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under EU law, including the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and the Unfair Contract Terms Directive (93/13/EEC).

Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland, except where EU consumer protection law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.

14. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to ParsleyPDF at any time, without prior notice, if:

• You violate these Terms
• You engage in abusive or fraudulent behavior
• We discontinue the service

Upon termination: - Your license to use ParsleyPDF ends immediately - Your documents remain on your device (we have no ability to delete them remotely) - Any active subscription should be cancelled through Apple to avoid further charges

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
• Displaying a notice within the app for significant changes

Your continued use of ParsleyPDF after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the app.
