What is ParsleyPDF?
ParsleyPDF is an AI-powered PDF assistant for iPhone and iPad. Import your PDF documents and use artificial intelligence to chat about them, generate summaries, and take quizzes — all while keeping your documents private on your device.
How does ParsleyPDF work?
When you import a PDF, ParsleyPDF extracts the text and stores it locally on your device. When you use AI features (chat, summary, quiz), the relevant text is sent to Google's Gemini AI through our secure servers for processing. The AI generates a response and sends it back. No document data is stored on our servers.
What types of PDFs work best?
ParsleyPDF works best with text-based PDFs such as academic papers, textbooks, reports, articles, and legal documents. Scanned PDFs (image-only) will not work unless they have an embedded text layer from OCR processing.
Is ParsleyPDF available on iPad?
Yes. ParsleyPDF is a universal app that works on both iPhone and iPad, with an interface optimized for each device.
Privacy & Security
Are my documents uploaded to the cloud?
No. Your documents are stored only on your device. When you use AI features, the document text is sent to Google's Gemini AI for processing. Data may be temporarily cached to improve performance, then automatically deleted. It is never used for AI model training.
Does ParsleyPDF track me?
No. ParsleyPDF uses anonymous authentication — no email, name, or personal information is required. We do not use advertising identifiers, analytics SDKs, or any form of cross-app tracking. Our Apple Privacy Nutrition Label confirms: no tracking.
Can ParsleyPDF access other files on my device?
No. ParsleyPDF can only access PDF files you explicitly import using the iOS document picker. It cannot access your photos, contacts, messages, or any other data on your device.
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
Uninstalling ParsleyPDF permanently deletes all your documents, chat history, summaries, and quiz results from your device. Anti-abuse counters stored in the iOS Keychain — including PDF import count, quiz generation count, and daily AI query count — persist after uninstall. See our Privacy Policy for details.
AI Features
How accurate are AI responses?
AI responses are generated by Google's Gemini AI and are provided for educational reference only. While generally helpful, they may contain errors, inaccuracies, or omissions. Always verify AI-generated content against your original source documents.
What is AI Chat?
AI Chat lets you ask questions about your PDF and receive answers with page citations. The AI reads your document's text and responds based on its contents. You can have a back-and-forth conversation — the AI remembers context from your recent messages.
How do Quizzes work?
Quizzes generate multiple-choice questions based on your document's content. Each question has four options with one correct answer, plus an explanation referencing the source material.

PDF import and quiz limits are lifetime. Daily AI requests reset at midnight UTC. Limits cannot be reset by reinstalling the app.

What do I get with Pro?
Pro removes strict free tier limits: Unlimited imports, up to 500 pages per PDF, unlimited questions, and Multi-document chat with up to 5 documents simultaneously.
Troubleshooting
AI features aren't working
Ensure you have an active internet connection. Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, wait a few minutes as you may have hit a temporary rate limit.
